My Favorite Bad Movies

These are movies that I enjoy seeing over and over even though they have serious flaws. I am not including movies that are so bad that they are funny - they would require a seperate category, namely Camp Movies - maybe some day I'll add that category.

  1. Encino Man with Brendan Fraser, Pauly Shore, Sean Astin
  2. Take the Money and Run (1969)with Woody Allen
  3. Bananas - 1971 with Woody Allen and Louise Lasser
  4. Airheads (1994) with Brendan Fraser, Steve Buscemi, Adam Sandler, Chris Farley
  5. Quick Change with Bill Murray, Geena Davis, Randy Quaid
  6. Adventures in Babysitting 1987 with Elisabeth Shue
  7. Mission Impossible

Films I plan to see

  1. City of God
  2. The Lady of the House (Bariwali)
dir. Rituparno Ghosh, India, 1999, 35mm, 150 mins, color, Bengali w/ English subtitles
  3. Warriors of the Net
  4. Talk To Her (Hable con ella) ... consistently interesting and entertaining ... Ultimately, though, there's so much here that the viewers may become overwhelmed
by all the pretty, fascinating balls in the air. So much so that they may forget
to care, which isn't, of course, what Almodovar had in mind at all.
  5. Standing In The Shadows Of Motown
  6. Bombay Wedding
  7. The Good Thief
  8. NOWHERE IN AFRICA. A Jewish family escapes the chaos and peril of WWII by fleeing to Kenya, where they are safe from the Holocaust but robbed of the status and comfort of their old life. Daughter Regina (played as a child by Lea Kurka and as an adolescent by Karoline Eckertz) is young enough to adjust rapidly and learn to love her new homeland. This is her memoir, and the film lets us feel her youthful delight and open-eyed wonder. No MPAA rating (a good film for families, but parents are cautioned for scenes of nudity and sensuality). 2:18. 3-1/2 stars. M.W.
  9. Sholay (1975)
  10. Secretary
  11. Holes
  12. Devdas   Devdas
  13. The Guru (Maybe Not)
